wall canvas

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

A friend came across this tutorial yesterday and I just had to post it. What a great idea! My sister in law has done a similar thing but using wall paper stretched over a blank canvas. I am thinking of doing one of these but in reality I have no wall space to hang anything!

I forgot to link the cushions!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

When I blogged about making the cushions for curious_girl last week I totally forgot to put the link in to her photos of the cushions in her home! So here it is. Check them out. I really am quite chuffed!

Thankyou

Monday, June 23, 2008

Thankyou to everyone that has popped by for a look at my blog and also posted a comment. It feels so nice to know that someone somewhere has read my ramblings :) Please feel free to keep dropping by.

At the moment I am not creating anything but I am using my machine and a needle and thread to repair, hem, darn, and replace buttons on a whole suite of clothing items that are piled up near my machine. I started yesterday with fixing a couple of holes in a knit cardigan, reattaching some lace edging to a pretty top and cutting off some loose ribbon from a pretty bra. I also pinned a new pair of jeans that need hemming. I pre-shrunk the jeans in a hot wash and hot tumble drier and only need to turn up about 1 cm of the hem to make them look nice so no cutting involed. Luckily they didn't shrink too much and still fit me and the denim is quite thin so the double hem will not be too bulky. I also have a couple of skirts that need re-hemming and I need to reattach a pocket to a pair of the boy's jeans. I might try and finish all of that tonight so that if the urge strikes to creat I won't feel guilty about putting aside the 'proper' sewing jobs!

Cushions....finally

Thursday, June 19, 2008

As I mentioned in this post I was commissioned to make a set of eight 50cm x 50cm zippered cushion covers out of amy butler fabrics. Since I had never made any before I bought a 50cm insert and made one for myself out of the blue coriander - my customer, curious_girl, wanted the covers to be durable so I interlined each piece with some calico for sturdiness and thickness...its the most comfy cushion we have on the sofa and we fight over it :)

Here is my blue coriander version.

This is curious_gal's set of cushion covers.

This is one of the commissioned cushion covers with my insert in - just checking the fit - I think it looks quite nice on my blue sofa....hmmm what a shame I don't have enough of this fabric left to make another one :)

In anticipation of making more commissioned pieces plus gifts I had some fabric labels printed byPurpleHug on etsy which you may be able to see sewn into the side seams of the cushions. They say Lippy Lou Designs. I have since decided I like Lippy Lou Creations better (hence the title of this blog) but the labels will do for now. I also had some mini cards printed by Moo cards and they are just the best quality!!! I'm tempted to get a whole stack more printed with something because they are just too cute! And currently I am having a logo designed for me by a company called LogoBanana who sent me an advertisment via Myspace - hopefully they come up with a cute logo for Lippy Lou Creations :)

New blog template

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Whilst I absolutely adored my 'I am the master evil genius' template my picture of the evil genius had recently disappeared and with the new layouts introduced by blogger and my inability to locate the original template I had to let the evil genius go. However I did find this great butterfly template by Amanda which I think is pretty cool. The only problem being that I have lost all my links to other cool blogs and my wists link from the side of the page. I have emailed Amanda to ask about this.

In the meantime it has been so long since I posted. I must update my blog with the final pics of the cushions that I made for curious_girl.

I also joined StyleHive and have added a follow me widget in the previous post if you would like to follow me.

And finally I discovered the most gorgeous adorable cute fashionable stylish girl ever in Camille from childhood flames. I think she is just awesome and I look forward to following her daily blog and wish 'if only' I could be so stylish....sigh...

EDIT: I have now discovered how to put in my wists and my blogroll again :) I also included a slideshow of my flickr pictures but because I deleted some pics in my flickr the slideshow now comes up with blanks! I'll try and work that one out another day.
